Aidan, Braden, Zayden… Ugh

Every time one of my wife’s friends has a baby boy, I can predict what they will name it - minus the consonant it begins with.  Aidan, Braden, Kaden, Zaden, Jayden, Hayden… Phonetically all the same, just change the consonant at the front.  So, it wasn’t any suprise when I read a press release from BabyNames.com today that said Aidan, Braden, and Kaden were the top three boy names used so far in 2007.

I guess her friends are in good company.  Don’t get me wrong, the names all have a ring to them, but everybody’s doing it.  Better still, I bet they all spell it a little differently for ‘uniqueness.’

I feel bad for the poor school teachers 5 or 10 years from now who are going to have to try and keep track of all the _adens.
