What’s a Get Paid To(GPT) Site?

A GPT site offers to pay members for doing certain things like completing offers, shopping, entering sweepstakes, buying or trying subscriptions, etc. Often they are called rewards sites.

Here’s how it works: you sign up with a GPT site (for free, of course) and view the list of offers such as:

  • Credit report subscription (you’ll pay if you don’t cancel before the end)
  • Purchase discounted gourmet coffee
  • Sign up with free paid survey sites
  • Enter sweepstakes (most of which are garbage)
  • Submit for health insurance quotes

Some of the offers require a credit card, like the free credit report, because once your trial ends, you will be automatically billed for your ongoing subscription unless you cancel before the end of the trial. Others, like joining a survey panel, are no-strings-attached. Once the advertiser receives your info, the GPT site credits your account.

Many of the offers on these sites are legitimate, but use caution. For instance, while most of the survey panel memberships are on the up and up, most of the ‘quick survey’ stuff is garbage. For instance, an offer of a free plasma TV just for choosing whether you like Coke or Pepsi better is a big red flag. Clicking on one of these will get you into a list of lists of offers that will have you clicking for hours trying to get through - and you’ll get sick of it way before you ever get anywhere close to a TV.

If you do a good amount of shopping online, you may find these kinds of sites save you some cash and make you some cash at the same time. Just like using coupons at the grocery store, if it’s something you were going to buy and you happen to have a coupon, you’ll make out on top.

If you don’t shop online or at all very much the number of offers that will work for you will be far more limited. You can still make a few bucks, but this probably won’t be a prolific cash stream for you.

If you’re interested, here’s a list of GPT sites, with links of course.

Many of the offers are duplicated from one GPT site to another and most of them are limited to one per household so you cannot complete one offer at 3 different GPT sites. Therefore, it’s probably a good idea to check them all out a bit first to see what they have before you start completing offers. Otherwise you may complete some offers on a particular site only to find all the other offers you would be interested in you’ve already completed elsewhere and can’t reach a payout.
