Say Hello to Smorty

I just signed up with Smorty, a site where you can get paid for blogging. They hook up bloggers who want to blog for money with people who want to advertise on blogs. This pairing is becoming increasingly popular as advertisers see the value of gaining exposure and interest through blog advertising. Bloggers (like me) enjoy getting paid to share our opinions on things we like to write about anyway.

The signup process at Smorty is very painless and they processed my application quickly. The site is well organized and easy to use. If you want to get paid to blog, sign up as a blogger and, once your blog is approved, you can start taking jobs. They even e-mail you when new jobs you qualify for are posted. Smorty pays for approved posts weekly by PayPal, which is great, compared to others who only pay monthly.

Smorty’s advertisers seem to have very realistic requirements for posts, which makes it easier for bloggers to write in their own style and remain true to their readers. Advertisers want bloggers to post an opinion about their product or service.

In the post they ask that you try to incorporate a few keywords. The keywords I’ve seen them ask for would probably occur naturally in the topic anyway, so it takes little or no effort to make that happen. Smorty only requires one link to the advertiser per post, although I typically put a few in a post anyway so my readers can easily get where they want to go. Based on my experience so far, and a thorough exploration of their site, Smorty seems like a win-win. If you’re looking to advertise on a blog or get paid for blogging check them out.
