My Thoughts on PageRank
A couple months ago when I started this blog I quickly learned there was a lot of buzz about pagerank. When I looked at paid to blog sites, I found that some advertisers wanted a certain PR to let you post for them. Then I started trying to figure out what pagerank was and how to get some of it.
What I came away with was a headache and a vague clue that more sites linking to you was a good thing. Good sites linking to you was a better thing. Let’s stop right there… if a lot of sites that Google says are good link to you, then Google will declare your site good. Hmmm… am I writing for Google or my readers? I read all the do and don’t stuff and all the buzz about paid links and buying pagerank or something and was even more confused.
So I decided to take a simple approach and develop my site (content, design, and links) without regard for what Google or any other algorithms might think. The only thing I proactively did to get some juice with the search engines is that I submitted my blog to every blog directory I could find. Made sense to me because whether it affected pagerank or not, it was free advertising for my blog.
I also found that while some advertisers want a certain PR, others do not. Low (or no) PR does not alone bar you from getting these opportunities.
Other than that, I haven’t given much thought to Google pagerank until today when I glanced up at my SEO toolbar in FireFox and noticed my little ole’ blog now has a PR 3. Sure, it’s not a 10, but it also isn’t far behind some of the A-list either. I like 3. It’s more than 0 and it’s also my lucky number. Bottom line: I don’t know that it matters and that’s why I didn’t spend a lot of time trying to go after it. But it’s cool to see that just being me got me a 3 (for whatever it’s worth.)

Congrats on PR 3. It’s very beneficial to you.
There will ALWAYS be a market for PR.
Just watch out what you do. I’ve had a few sites that I owned that lost their PR since I sold links. It really sucks to see that PR 6 go all the way down to 0.
Thanks for dropping by.
Yeah, I’m happy getting to PR 3 with no effort. I won’t be selling links since I don’t even understand how that works, and don’t want to
