Down, But Not Out
For the last few days this blog and ALL of my other sites have been working intermittently at best. Each attempt to view seemed to get a different error message. The friendly folks at 1&1, my host, told me they were aware of the problem and working to fix it. Silly me, I thought that might happen like the same day. I guess I was thinking a company that big would just pull the server out plop in a new one and restore the files from a backup and then, at their leisure, resolve the problem with the buggy server. But, I guess that’s not how things work since things were functional a little while the first evening and then down again for hours the next day. Ugh!
I can’t complain too much though because I’ve been with 1&1 for about 5 years now and this is the first time the server went down. I just wish they a) would have put up an alert or sent me an e-mail and b) would have resolved it a little faster. When you make your living online, error pages all over is not a good thing!
