7 Things I hate on Television

televisionI’m a TV junkie. There’s usually at least one on in my house and no matter what I’m doing, there’s almost always a TV on in the background. I watch more TV than a lot of people, and I probably notice details most overlook. So, here are my pet peeves – things on TV that irk me!

  1. The little logo in the bottom corner. If it’s small and unobtrusive, that’s one thing. But, sometimes it covers stuff you want to see and some channels. Around holidays and special occasions some channels dress those things up and make them huge, annoying, and distracting.
  2. TNT’s animated preview deal that blows out across the bottom of the screen, covering most of it and blaring sounds over the show you’re watching.
  3. Foot odor and fungus products. I know folks need this stuff, but do you have to show me a big stinking foot with green steam coming off of it? These only seem to come on when I’m enjoying a delicious snack.
  4. The TV Guide channel. Don’t take up 2/3 of the screen with a show nobody wants to watch and don’t spend an hour scrolling through what I could be watching if I had the premium box. Just show me what’s on already!
  5. Just about everything on VH1 and E, particularly things like “101 most shocking quotes by child stars” and all those pathetic compete with 12 others to win a man/woman. How many times/ways can you reincarnate the same crap!
  6. I’m old enough to remember when Music TeleVision (MTV) started. Back then, they had something really strange on…. MUSIC! Where did it go? Sometimes you can catch a video on CMT (rarely), but the others are all talk and all un-original original programming.
  7. Showing my age again, does anyone else remember when cable meant no commercials? Wasn’t that the sell in the first place, pay a monthly fee and you get cool channels without commercials? Maybe I just dreamed that.

I’m sure there’s plenty more, but that’s all I can think of for now.

  1. Yes I have to agree that I hate those watermark/logo/button,whatever you call it .Annoying, and distracting. And forget about “ad free”.Sometime I say to myself Am I paying money for that.???

  2. I am with you on the cable having no commercials and what ever happened to MTV? I haven’t watched MTV since they started those reality shows on there years ago.

  3. One of the things That does my nut in is when these so called non commercial tv channels, just over promote everything else that is on their channel.
