Poor Baby
The last couple of weeks sure have been rough on the baby. He’s almost two and very mobile, but still not completely coordinated, and loves to explore. Unfortunatley, sometimes he battles with gravity and gravity wins. He was in the back seat of the truck. Up until now, he hasn’t been able to unbuckle himself so I go around and open the door, unbuckle him and get him out. Well, now he knows how. I went to get him out of the truck and he had apparently unbuckled himself. When I opened the door he fell out, with his feet caught in the straps, face first onto the driveway and pavers alongside it. He got some nasty scrapes and bruises around his eye and side of his head.
A few days later he attempted to drive his little truck off the steps of the deck, there are about 4 steps, as mommy ran to stop him. She didn’t make it and he bounced down the steps landing at the bottom and scraping up his little knee. P.S. there is now a gate at the top of the steps.
Meanwhile, he’s had the sniffles and developed a cough. We called the pediatrician one the cough showed up and she said she was about to leave the office and we should take him to the ER. The PA there who saw him acted like we were stupid for bringing him there. Sorry, when my son can’t catch his breath because he’s caughing so badly, something is wrong.
A few days later he spiked a fever of 103.2 and an hour after tylenol it only came down to 102.6. So, back to the ER we went. This time the doctor was helpful and understanding. Did some tests, ruled some stuff out, and put him on an antibiotic. Now he’s off the antibiotic and the pediatrician put him on some cough medicine. It’s the first night he’s been able to sleep comfortably in awhile.
I sure hope the worst is behind him. It really stinks seeing him sick or hurting and not being able to fix it.
