Spread it Around
In a recent post I mentioned that I’ve learned when it comes to making money online or entreprenuership in general you can’t put all your eggs in one basket. I think that’s a topic that bears repeating and a little bit of expanding. It’s certainly not a new concept and definitely not one I came up with it on my own. I think I probably first formally encountered it was on some tapes by Robert Allen, I remember him using the phrase “multiple streams of income.” Anyway the theory was that if you only made a few bucks a month on something but multiplied that times a bunch of somethings, it would add up. Simple math and simple numbers. Numerous other people have purveyed the concept and many more actually work it.
Bottom line is that I still haven’t found that one thing online where I could make a big comfortable living. But I have managed to find a bunch of little things that bring in a little $$ each. Seriously, if there was one thing anyone could to make a six figure income in their pajamas, wouldn’t everyone be doing it? You’ll notice that here on OperationBob I don’t give you any “start this thing and quit your day job” type of hyped up “opportunities.” Instead I focus on real things that pay real money, however small, and pass on as many of them as I can find. You don’t have to do everything, but hopefully you can find a few that get you thinking or get your snowball starting down a covered hill.
I think the trick is to find the ones you enjoy doing. If you don’t like it you’ll resent it and/or stop doing it. The second thing is to look at the things you enjoy and focus on the opportunities within that list that require the least time to do with the best reward. Third, keep at it. Fourth and finally, keep expanding – always pay attention to what else is out there and what’s working and what isn’t.
